Remember we talked bout Zhekai's baby shower earlier? It's happening this Sunday, 14 Nov 2010 at Cindy's house. It will start at 2.00 pm. I will be in town earlier so will be glad to meet any of you at 1.45 pm at Sengkang MRT station. Please inform me beforehand if you will be joining me at Sengkang. Let's make an effort to be punctual alright?

E-dyl will be having her O Level Papers this week. Please send her an sms of encouragement and keep her in your daily prayers. Her exam schedule is as follow:

Please keep her Grandma in prayers also. Earlier, she has shared that her Grandma is hospitalised. She just had her Operation recently and is now experiencing some side-effects from taking the pain killer. On top of that, she kept seeing "things" so pray for healing and of course, peace of mind. Once you are done with your prayer, drop an sms to E-dyl so she will know that all of us are praying together with her for her Grandma's recovery.

Hannah - Mission Trip Reflection

hey(: so here's my reflection for the mission trip.

well, the mission trip was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me. though i would still have many other chances to go for mission trips, but it will always be special because it was my first. I went to batam, not knowing what to expect, and having no clue of what we were doing there. There was, however, one lesson that i learnt doing the trip, which is... expect the unexpected. you'll see later why(:

on the first day, we all set off for habourfront with excited spirits in us(: haha, i left house with a back pack and a pillow case, and my neighbours stared at me as if i was running away from home in the early morning:O hahahaha! so we got on the ferry and started snacking on prunes and val's motion sickness pill that knocked us out:P the ferry ride wasn't that bad, but it was cold): so when we reached batam, we went to get supplies. oh we had lunch at A&W first! yum!:D we got boxes of water, loads of cup noodles and biscuits, and tons of toothbrushes and toothpastes, etc. hahaha 75 toothbrushes and toothpastes!:D wheeeeeeeeee!~~~ it was fun going groceries shopping with the jie jies and kor kors(: then we checked into the hotel, which was.... well i can say maybe one-star hotel? but you know, the jie jies already told us to lower our expectations, so we didn't mind.(:

nat, weilin and sheer = room 313 (somerset 313!);

eleta, jasmine and ps debra = room 308;

guys one room (uhhh... i can't rmb their room no. heh:P)

but when we opened the room door, a strong cigarette smell filled our noses): GAH. according to weilin, nat and sheer who sweeped their floor, there were cigarette buds, plastic bottles, etc under the bedsD: oh wells, we felt comfortable in the rooms after a while(: then we went to the village. it was my first time seeing a village and i suddenly felt so fortunate. i was so lucky that i had a proper steady house with a nice roof over me every night, and that i had a nice bathroom to bathe in!:) the church was much smaller than fcbc in expo. it was like a section of our hall. the pastor then explained to us what we were suppose to expect and we discussed about our plans. he also shared about his calling from God and how he arrived in this village, which apparently was illegal:O well, lets be honest, we were all falling asleep except for andrew(jasmine) who was copying notes!(x then we had a little walk around the village and we headed back to the hotel where we had dinner at a nearby restaurant. it was briefing and lights out!

on the second day, we stayed in the hotel first to practice the skit while the rest went to get more supplies. (: hahahhaa, it was by 'divine appointment' that we got roles. i can't believe that val even prayed over the lots!:P but it was great fun!:D then we had lunch at the same restaurant and went to visit the village. oh btw, crossing their roads is like death sentence! ahhhh!D: hahahahhaa! so every night we would pray for crossing-the-road mercy.:D and their public transport is really cool!:D anyway, we went there to set up lessons for the kids in the village. at first we expected 20 kids, but 120 kids actually turned up!:O it was a huge shock for all of us! see, expected the unexpected(: as there were so many kids, we had to split them up. i'm not sure what they did at the lesson side, but i heard joyce was busy gorging(?) out the eyes of the kids' masks!>.<

on the third day, we left for the village early in the morning for cell. (: we expected 5 youths but only 2 turned up, so we decided to delay it. & their youths are like 20+. so we played with them 'big fish' and 'small fish'. 'IKAN KECHIL, IKAN BESAR' HAHAHAHA!:D yes, val's reflexes are slowwww:P since there were only 2 of them, we decided to go home visiting and for our prayer walk(: seeing all the rubbish dumped on the floor, i naturally prayed for good rubbish disposal system(: then we had a tuna sandwich lunch, and it rained): which was not a good sign because we were having a bbq at night. so we prayed really hard and by God's grace, the rained stopped! AMEN!:D then we had cell meeting with one guests because the other 2 had to go. but before cell, we were playing twister which sheer was trying to kill us): BLEAH. joyce and megan led icebreakers, but me, weilin and nat led worship. then val shared about joseph and dreaming big for God. 1. willingness 2.faith(: then we started preparing for the bbq(: oh then the others came(cause some went to buy more supplies!) and andrew(eleta) came. he's stealing her away): GAH. and he wants us to wash his feet. ew. so while some leaders were practicing entertainment, we were outside barbequeing sausages and sotongballs(: cause we burnt the sausages, so it looked like CHEMOTHERAPY!:P HAHAHAHA! then the sotongballs tasted weird so 7 ppl tried one sotongball(x then the ppl came and we ate(: & had good entertainment! it was an awesome time of worship where we sang, danced and jumped for the Lord!:D we went HIGHHHHHHHHHH!~~~ :D:D:D:D:D so then we left the village in darkness again): at night, the six of us girls slept with val in the same room! MUAHAHAHAHAHHA! 3 on one bed, and four on the other, heh:P so fun!:D we slept about 2 according to batam time:P so 3 singapore time?

the next morning(our last day *sobs*) we woke up early to attend church(: weilin, andrew(jasmine) and val shared their testimonies and we had the longest prayer ever!:O then we made balloon animals for the kids and played with bubbles(: we took cool jump shots but that wasn't the main point. we headed back to check out of the hotel and went to eat lunch at kfc(: then had jco donuts and it was ferry ride back): oh yah, then we sent off our translators(forgot to add them:O) well, on the ferry ride back, we... slept.:P hahahha! it was saddening): we didn't want to go home because we left all our worries at home(:

so okay, the main point was that this trip made me more aware of how fortunate i am. it was an interesting experience where i went through things that i would never have expected. though it was a rather comfortable mission trip, like we could eat kfc and had a hotel and all, but i did learn a lot from this trip. (: i got to know people who actually sacrificed alot to do God's will, and follow the plans which God had created for them. what touched me the most, was that those christians in the village could actually be grateful, and praised the Lord with all their hearts. during the church service, they took God seriously and they took the sermon seriously. you could really feel God's presence among us. i feel like its very different back in Singapore, where we have so many things and we take them for granted. we go to church every wk, sometimes treating it like a routine. honestly, if i'm one of the villagers, i would find it really hard to trust and believe in God. it is because i would be asking God why didn't He bless me with a nice house and all. so that really touched me, their child-like faith and their love for God. (: i really wish i could be like them sometimes(:

i really thank God for blessing me with this trip(: though it was short, but it was really fruitful(: i really wish that i can go back there and continue helping the village there(: this trip has also helped us in the cell become closer and get to know each other better(: thank you Lord for blessing me with this awesome trip! i love you, God!

This mission trip was a really fun,unforgettable and awesome experience for me.(:

At first I started this trip not knowing what to expect, and I just decided to trust God for everything.And truely,God's presence was really there during the trip and he blessed all of us who went.During this trip, eventhough there were many unexpected things that happened, God blessed us and eventually, everything turned out well and we had so much fun together serving God!:D

On the 1st day, after we reached Batam, we checked into SkyView Hotel(thankfully it did not have a sky view):P, and then went to the Village and met Pastor Philip there.He introduced himself to us and he talked a little about the village.I realised that he really has a heart to serve God, for when he graduated from bible college, he could have chosen better places to preach in, but he obeyed God and set up a church in this village.
After that, we went for a tour of the village.Seeing the bad conditions the people lived in, my heart went out to them. The Village had no proper paths and rubbish was thrown on a small patch of bare land. There were candy and snack wrappers lying all around and their living conditions were so much different from what we experience here in Singapore.I realised how fortunate we are to grow up in such good conditions, and yet we still complain so much.
Another thing that struck me was, the kids looked so happy and contented playing 5 stones and just running around chasing chickens:D Even though life is simple there, they seem so much happier compared to us.
After that, we went back to the hotel and prepared for the next day.

On the 2nd day, we went to the Village again and we had prepared lessons and games for 20 children.However, much to our surprise, 120 enthusiastic children turned up!The materials we had prepared were not enough but we still decided to continue our program as planned.We split the kids up into 2 groups, above 6 and below 6.I helped up with the above 6 group and this kids were so cute and enthusiastic! Especially when we were helping them cut face masks, the kids kept pushing and shoving to get their masks. After they got their masks, they kept posing for me to take pictures for them! And when they saw the pictures on my camera, they laughed SO happily :D
We stayed in the Village till 10pm and even though it was a tiring day, seeing all the kids' bright smiles and laughter, it all felt worth it. I think that day, God really provided and blessed us. Even though we did not have enough materials for all the kids, everyone still had alot of fun and made new friends!:D

On the 3rd day, we had planned a cell meeting for the youths and a BBQ at night.In the morning,it rained very heavily and we prayed hard for the rain to stop. Amazingly, the rain really lightened up and stopped.In the afternoon, we had expected alot of people for the cell meeting but due to the rain, only 1 guy turned up. However, we still managed to conduct the cell meeting and we prayed for one another. At night, we prepared alot of food for the BBQ,,and we expected 60 people! But less than 10 turned up, and they were all Christians.
However, amazingly, that night we still managed to have alot of fun just simply worshipping God! The mood was really high and we had alot of fun!:D

On the last day, we had Church service in their church. During worship, I really felt God's presence there, and eventhough the Church was small and there were not many people attending the service, I really felt the hunger they had for God.During this trip, I learnt many things. I learnt that its not the quantity that counts( how many people there are in a church), its how serious and passionate you are about for God. Eventhough the villagers have so much less than us, they are easily contented with what they have, and they appreciate everything that God has given them. (: And during worship, they really praise and worship God with such enthusiasiam and passion that we lack.

Overall,even though it was only a short four days,I think that this was a really fruitful trip. It was a great experience and I learnt so much.Eventhough there was a language barrier with the people there, we overcomed it. I also really felt God's presence during this trip and my faith in the Lord has strengthened through this trip!(: Also, I really bonded with the rest of the girls that went for the trip and we had so much fun together!:D I got to know them so much better, and we got really so much closer and more bonded after this trip.We did so many retarded and fun things during this trip which I will never forget!:P Also, I would really just like to thank God for blessing us throughout this trip and teaching me so many things!:) I really experienced the joy of serving the Lord and learnt that, in all situations, we should just have faith and trust in God(: God is good!:D

Back from a mission!

Hello girls!

The team are back safely from the mission trip. I am sure for those who were on the trip will agree that, God's presence was with us!

There were many wonderful things that happened. Which i shan't say any here. I will leave it to the reflection competition entries!! SO Joyce, Weilin, Hannah, Nat, Megan and Yun Wen! We will be waiting for your entries!

Lastly, i wanna say that; I am glad to see the 6 girls who went on the mission together has fostered a friendship bond. I can see the 6 of you getting closer with each other, is no longer awkward silence when you 6 are together. Praise God! I hope this friendship will continue to blossom, and not only among the 6 of you. Bring the friendships to the cell group! Spread the love to the rest who didnt go.. :)

I just want to popby and say you are dearly missed! Everyone of you!

I have been struggling quite a fair bit with my studies. It is a lot tougher than I imagine. The good news is, our God is faithful to see me through everyday. There will be dance and live band performance, most importantly, Powerful Sharing of God's words!

The older sisters (Me, Sheer and Jasmine) wont be going, because we will be having our G12 TGIF party. So, do arrange among yourself if you want to attend this event.

I was a shy little girl born into a christian family. I knew alot of the bible and I went to bible school every Sunday. But I did not know who to talk to at that time and felt alone and rejected. I felt people treated me like a plastic bag, after using, people will not bother with me and would throw me away. They will only use me when needed. I was very lucky to be showered by my parents' love but in school, I felt lonely and had only 2 friends during 2 years of my primary school. But when i was eight, I prayed a simple prayer, to be more confident, cheerful and nobody will treat me like a plastic bag. It really happened as God is great :D

I remembered during the December holidays when i was 8, I went to Jakarta. My grandmother invited all her morning tea friends for my grandfather's birthday celebration. There was a special part of the show which I had never know. They plan to have all the grandchildren above the age of 5 to sing Christmas Carols in front of the whole crowd of about 100 ppl. I was very afraid. My sis and my cousins teased me so they hid somewhere else leaving me to sing all by myself. At first, it was kinda awkward but after a while, I realised people enjoyed the company and I gained my self confidence.

There was another incident which really shocked me. I was 10 and I went to the mama shop opposite my house to buy sweets. I thought it would be okay for me to cross the road without the trafficlight turning green as all the other adults were doing it too. I followed the adults behind and unfortunately, I was knocked down by a van! I was really thankful to God as I only had small cuts and no brain injury even though I had an injury on my head and I do not need to stay in the hospital..Praise the Lord!!

Another incident that I can remember that incident very vivdly in my head that happened two years ago when my grandfather died.... I was really close to him and I really missed him...but God has comforted me and now I have become stronger because of him...I'm still facing difficult challenges but like my mum always say, which i belive, "when there's a storm, the Lord will always be there no matter what in times of need" :D

I hope you all did enjoy the race today! Though is tiring, i am sure is worth it! Hopefully other than learning more about one another, you learn something new about yourself as well.

On the 27th of Nov, the cell group took an overnight bus to Cameron Highland. Finally after 9hrs+ of travelling, we finally reached the destination!

This is how you will look after 9hrs+ of bus ride. Shagged-out look!

We had our first meal at a coffee shop. All of us ordered hot drinks, the weather was too chilly for us! No pictures of Roti-Prata we ate, too hungry to think of taking photographs. *Lol*

Then we went to our hotel for our check in. The happy people at the lobby.

After worship and word session, we went out to hunt for food again. We found one indian coffee shop near our hotel. The excitement for food was hard to mask. :P

And we were not alone. There were companies, which really made us irritated. I felt like a horse tail, kept swiping my hands to shoo them off.

After lunch, went back to the hotel and got ready for our tour!

Though the weather was gloomy, it didnt stop us from touring!

We reached our first farm, i forgot what farm was this, but i can say proudly, i was listening to Kumar, our tour guide, him attentively then.

Then off to another farm, along the road were plantations and plantations..

Our next farm was to see.........Is 菊花！Check the dictionary if you do not know what is this okie?

Below is the bud of the flower, looks big and healthy huh?

However, the farmer will eventually remove and burn the big bud of the flower! Because it will absorb all the nutrients and cause malnutrition to the rest of the buds. When the tour guide told us this, i captured expressions of shockness.

The next farm was a happy farm! Is strawberry farm! As usual, we were too busily eating than taking pictures.Then to Cactus Farm. The boys getting ready for photo.

Dear Gals,

Gentle reminder, Cindy, Val, Jasmine, Miao, Eleta and myself will be heading to Cameron Highland in the next few hours. Hence, please do not msg us to ask where we are or where we are seated. Instead, please sit with your parents for service. We have been excused for Congre so no worries on going Congre on your own. :)

We will be back on Monday evening so be good and wait till we are back ya?

At the same time, do note that we are planning a Tea Party for you gals which will be held on 5 Dec at Jiejie-Jasmine's house. There will be 2 meetup points, For MRT station meetups, Val will be the contact person and for Parkway Parade meetup, I will be the contact person. Keep a close watch on this blog and I shall update when we are back on the timing, etc. Just so you can start planning, the dress code is smart causal, meaning no T-shirt and jeans. ;)

Alrighty, that's all I wanna highlight. Last but not least, be good and enjoy this Sunday service! Keep us in prayer and hopefully, we will have part 2 known as "The Frog Incident" to share. LOL.

Faith (from Living Life, 24 Nov)

The fields were parched and brown from lack of rain, and the crops lay wilting from thirst. People were anxious and irritable as they searhed the sky for any sign of relief. Days turned into arid weeks. No rain came.

The ministers of the local chruches called for an hour of prayer on the town square the following Saturday. They requested that everyone bring an object of faith for inspiration.

At high noon on the appointed Saturday the townspeople turned out en masse, filling the square with anxious faces and hopeful hearts. The ministers were touched to see the variety of objects clutched in prayerful hands - holy books, crosses, etc.

When the hour ended, as if on magical command, a soft rain began to fall. Cheers swept the crowd as they held their treasured objects high in gratitude and praise. From the middle of the crowd one faith symbol seemed to overshadow all the others: A small nine-year-old child had bought an umbrella.

Dear gals, thought i share the above story after i read it during my Quiet time today. More than coming to church and reading bible, that act of faith will draw you nearer to God. But that doesnt mean coming to church or reading bible is not importance. i hope all of you will be like this little nine-year-old boy who had the faith to bring an umbrella when praying for rain.
